Ask Yourself These 3 Questions to Drive Transformational Impact

Did you know that only 6% of ideas become a commercial success?

Despite this, most of us are paralysed, constantly trying to perfect our idea before starting off.

Over the past 2 years I’ve interviewed 76 black British changemakers and noticed a common theme in our conversations.

They didn’t wait until they were experts before starting out.

Today I’m delving into the only 3 questions that you need to answer in order to drive change.

Let’s dive in.

What are you passionate about?

This is where is starts. What do you really care about? This isn’t always an easy question to answer, but we all have the answer deep inside of us. It just takes some soul searching.

In our conversation with Oyin Adebayo, she recognised the importance of women getting into STEM as well as the lack of diversity in STEM. She saw the problem, it sparked something inside of her, and she worked on a solution. The key thing to recognise is that she didn’t wait until she was an expert. She just worked on an entrepreneurial solution for this, learnt over time, and her passion landed her a 6-figure multi-year contract.

You owe it to yourself to find this out what you’re passionate about. There’s no better feeling in this world than to discover your passion and to make a living doing what you love.

What does your vision of the future look like?

Where are you going? A ship without a destination will eventually end up shipwrecked, and you will too if you don’t have a destination in mind.

Ade Shokoya is a father of 3 and wanted a diverse set of toys for his children, and couldn’t find anything. This led to the creation of MeBe toys.

What world do you see for yourself and your loved ones? Visualise the ideal future you strive to create. How does it look?

Let your vision guide your actions and decisions.

What immediate steps can you take?

What can you do right now? Can you start creating content around what you care about? Can you create that online store front?

Ade and Oyin are 2 examples of people who didn’t wait until they had all the answers to start.

Focus on actionable steps and utilise the resources that you have at your disposal.

In summary

Your purpose and vision coupled with immediate action are the single most important facets behind driving transformational change. Start where you are, with what you have, and let your journey towards impact begin.
